ONCE UPON A TIME...

there was a Maputo based band called "Shunga" that tryed to fuse reggae sounds with some mozambican and other african traditional rhythms. From 1999 to 2001 that band performed in some venues along with the most international reggae band from Maputo (340ml), with the most influent mozambican rock band (Rockfellers) and shared stages with some other big mozambican bands like Ghorwane and KapaDêch.

However (and unfortunately), Shunga was born to be a short-living band and they splitted in the early 2001...

Few months after "divorce", former members RazMak, Bruno and Rastaparta decided to go back into the studio to continue doing one of the things they most liked: MUSIC. (but, be sure they like many other things!!)

At first, there were just the three of them playing some instrumental shit in a well-payed studio... always rushing against time, of course!! They generally played original stuff and many, many covers from their idols and guiders.

As the guys started to feel the absence of some lyrical part, they begun the "pursue" for a vocalist... or two!! During that time, they've experienced some good voices and writers from rappers to reggae singers until they... aaaaaleluiaa!!

... they finally found some other "cat" that seemed to fit perfectly the place. That one was Mars!!!...

And so it begun the THE ROCATS' saga...
